{All About Mommy} Amanda from Kids and Cabernet

Hello Down With The Dearmore readers!  I'm Amanda and I blog at Kids and Cabernet.  You can find me talking about my two sweet kids, fashion, decor, my favorite wine finds and whatever else comes to mind. Feel free to pay me a visit and say hi!

As a mom we all know that the days are long, it's a job that doesn't have paid leave,  lunch breaks, and you're on call 24/7... so how can we find the time to relax, and enjoy a little "me time" to shake off the demands of the day?  Here are a few things that I try to do when I feel the need to relax:

Girl's nights
What's better than hanging out with your girlfriends and talking.  This doesn't have to be an expensive night out, it can just be your closes girlfriend's getting together at someone's home after the kiddos go to bed and having a glass or two of wine while chit-chatting in your PJ's.  These are always fun night's for me.  Adult conversation, wine and my yoga pants?? Yes please!

Me time
My husband is a firefighter so I'm alone a couple of times a week, don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like spending time with my hubby - I just love a little down time for myself on occasion.  I watch mindless TV or a chick-flick, paint my nails, blog, just enjoy time where I can unwind.

Lunch dates
This is perfect if you have a babysitter during the day.  Escaping and meeting a friend or your hubby and going to lunch and getting out of the daily routine can be a great way to relax and break up your day.

Baths
This is something that I need to get better at - taking relaxing baths.  There are so many ideas on how to make you feel like you've just went to a spa in your own home by mixing Epsom salt, and an essential oil such as chamomile or lavender which are known to help you relax.  Setting up a bath tray with a candle, your favorite book or magazine and a glass of wine or bubbly... yes, most of my relaxation includes a glass of wine ;)

A 30 minute break
This is one that I try to do when  family comes over and it's been a day where I've had enough and feel stressed out.  I go to my room, go on Pinterest, watch a show, read a blog or do something for 30 minutes and just take a breather.  I always feel so much better!

Weekend Getaway
We've done this twice in the past year and have had so much fun!  We go with a group of friends and plan a few fun things to do.  We eat out a lot, have cocktails, see the sights, sleep in, and just feel carefree - well, as carefree as we can because the kiddos are always on our minds, but you get the idea.  After a couple of days away I feel revitalized and ready to get back into my every day routine.

What are some of the ways you relax from mommy-hood?

Thank you so much Jen for having me be a part of your All About Mommy series, it was such a honor!
